| Daisy Cafe is an outstanding hidden gem on the near east side, within biking distance of downtown (and definitely worth the trip). The Daisy owners have completely transformed the building, giving it an eclectic, casual decor and a comfortable atmosphere. Although a primary part of the name, cupcakes are almost a side attraction here, given the extensive and finely chosen menu.
I went with the roasted vegetable and goat cheese omelet after a Sunday morning excursion to Olbrich Gardens. Although I had a hearty appetite going in, the healthy portion size was too much for me to handle, albeit delightful. Daisy uses fresh vegetables from their CSA share, and the difference is quite noticeable. The Montchevre goat cheese is also a truly perfect selection that seems was placed on the menu entirely to suit my tastes. My companion polished off the apple and cinnamon strata, and also raved about its quality ingredients and delightful presentation.
I have not yet ventured to try a cupcake at Daisy Cafe, but the selection in the display case looked lovely. I highly recommend Daisy for a great, high-quality, reasonably priced meal while venturing to the near east side, or for a special excursion for an outstanding weekend brunch. |
