| It had been almost a decade since I'd been to Lazy Jane's, so I stopped in for brunch. Lazy Jane's is always crowded for weekend brunch, and today was no exception. I waited in line about 20 minutes, and the place was crowded and a bit noisy. I arrived around 10:45 and would recommend trying to find a slightly less busy time when the atmostphere might be better. I ordered the Works (two eggs, choice of toast, potatoes, and choice of meat), the medium roast coffee, and a cherry scone. The bacon was thick and crisp, the lightly buttered wheat toast was delicious, and the coffee was strong. I ordered the eggs over easy, and they were a tad runny, but still pretty good, especially with the toast to sop them up. The highlight of the meal was easily my cherry scone, which featured large chunks of cherry.
Over all, Lazy Jane's is big on food, but not so great in terms of service and atmosphere. In the future, I might just stop in for the bakery, get it to go, and head over to Willaby's, a similar greasy-spoon kind of diner across the street with no waiting. |
